Games you thought would suck but did not

Have you ever saw a game that you thought would suck but when you played it, you realized how wrong you were? That happened to me when I played Catherine. I thought that it would be one of those quirky games that would never really rise above mediocrity because of its silly gameplay mechanics. It turned out that I was wrong. Catherine had an extremely engaging story that kept me guessing from beginning to end. It had suspense, a bit of horror, comedy, drama, everything! What about you?

Well, I didn't think it would suck, but I picked up Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten and wasn't expecting anything to write home about. Wrong! I've sunk over 80 hours into it so far, and I still haven't finished getting all the achievements. It's a single-player tower defense RPG, and I'd recommend it even if you're not really into tower defense games. It's definitely a lot of fun, challenging, and the writing is really entertaining. They're making another one now and I'm really looking forward to it.

Plants v Zombies. Originally I thought the game was going to be pretty boring, but it turned out to be great fun. I never regretted downloading it even for a minute.

Another game that truly made an impression on me is Gangstar Vegas, it's a very good attempt to overthrow GTA when it comes down to open world games, but I think it only equals Vice City, so they still have a lot to do. (It's an Android game.)

I went into Binary Domain thinking it would suck but it turned out to be one of the best shooters I've played. Game's legit, bro.
