I am quite happy to go along with the theory that as long as I choose not to be a criminal, any form of police surveillance is either irrelevant or to my advantage.

I honestly don't believe you're that ignorant.

Yes, it would be a wonderful world if the worlds police forces were actually there to "protect and serve" the people who pay their salary, but that is not always the case. Police organizations are made up by men, and man is far from perfect.

The picture below shows one of two trucks that were shot up by police who that they had Mr. Dorner in his car. Turns out it was two ladies, one who was 70 years old. I had heard news accounts that people heard at least 60 shots fired. Per the picture I've provided, I only counted about 46 (bullet holes pointed out by the green arrows provided by yours truely). Thank god the women weren't actually killed.

These were the same men who the cheif of police praised as being "professionals".

I don't rely upon the police for my protection, but myself.

You make it so easy :D

With people like you back in the day the world would be all speaking German today :D

Redneck cliches are so funny.

Take a good look at Germany today...then look at poor, broke and violent America. One has learned and moved ahead....the other tips from side to side on the whims of the stupidest 10% of its population

Are you going to argue my point,or are you simply going to question my judgement based on the stupidity of what happens in your country?

By all means try and find an instance where New Zealand police have behaved in this kind of gung-ho manner, but our police come under much closer public scrutiny than yours.

And I love how they never really delve into how corrupt the police force this ex cop is warring on really is....

I guess it's because we live in such a small and relatively peaceful community. I'm sure you'd never question the need for police to be armed, nor question the right of the police to draw and use those weapons. Here, there is no shortage of firearms, but they are not ubiquitous to daily life.

There are cases here where the police have used lethal force, but they are so rare that they make national news.Indeed, even relatively minor incidents are pushed into the spotlight.

It's official: The drone war has come home to America. Wanted fugitive Christopher Dorner, the homicidal former cop currently at war with the LAPD, has become the first known human target for airborne drones on U.S. soil. Their use was confirmed by Customs and Border Patrol spokesman Ralph DeSio, who revealed the government's fear that Dorner will make a dash for the Mexican border. The fugitive has already killed three people, according to police, and has a $1 million bounty on his head. Dorner, who has military training, is believed to be hiding in the wilderness of California's San Bernardino Mountains, where locating him without air support may be all but impossible. [Source]

Surveillance is one thing. Armed is another. I don't think police drones are armed, are they? I do believe the authorities would try to apprehend the fugitive and give him his day in court. If the police corner him, and he fights back, this is grounds to kill him. I don't believe a drone strike would be justified until after armed resistance. From a philosophical stance you have to ask yourself, what is the difference between a sniper bullet in the head and a drone taking you out? What would be unacceptable, IMO would be any possibility of human collateral damage.
