DK if the lady was or is truly interest in hiring you, this can probably be salvaged.. Don't lose hope and don't get peeved off.. Think positive and move forward to show her you are still interested..

Find new references that you KNOW you can depend on this time and provide her the new list.

You never know if the people she just hired won't leave, not work out and if she won't decide to hire you for your added effort and add one extra person to staff..

If you give up you will automatically assure yourself of no position.. If you keep showing initiative and positive attitude, it will produce positive results somewhere.

I'm definitely going to try to salvage the job but I'm just shocked that these people I've known for a LONG time and was good friends with can't even be bothered to return a phone call, I mean I can see not answering a strange number but when they have voicemails and know EXACTLY what the call is about and still can't be bothered to return the call there is no excuse for that.

While I agree with you, and it does suck especially in the economy we are in, keep in mind the most dependable person will come down to yourself.

Sorry if I may sound hard on you at times but I am really trying to help you. I really wish you good luck and want you to get a good job..
