Softpedia is a good site that sometimes has reviews from other downloaders. Sometimes its difficult to find the right link to click for the download, but they are all safe.

Yes, I've already download a lot from Softpedia, until now, no problems at all.
CNet is also pretty good, try one or another! :)

CNET has some good free downloads, wherever you're downloading just make sure that the website is genuine. Also remember that with a lot of freeware they'll try and trick you into installing other programs, make sure you don't install that too, unless you want it!

Actually just about anything I like to play around with that sort of stuff. Right now I am looking for something that saves images as icons. I haven't had much luck. Most are junk ware.

Although you may think it's a bad idea because it can cause viruses, I've actually been downloading software from free sites for years and I've never had a single problem or a virus, so even though they have a bit of a bad reputation, it really depends 100% on the site.

If you're looking for clean freeware without spyware, trusted sites include Ninite, MajorGeeks, and PortableApps. Ninite auto-installs popular tools without junk. MajorGeeks hand-tests files, ensuring safety. PortableApps offers portable, clean versions of apps. SnapFiles and FileHippo are also reliable but check for add-ons. Always avoid third-party downloaders to stay safe from malware.
