Fred's Fishing Tales

I went fishing this morning. I caught 12 bass from my cousin's pond. Nothing to brag about size wise. Since he asks me to remove all the bass I catch under 4 pounds I was cleaning the biggest ones for dinner one night soon. I had broke off one fish I did not get to see. I was fishing with a 5" lizard. I found the lizard inside one of the fish I was cleaning.

Rubber lizards yes.

Experienced the reel coming off the rod the first strike I had this past Saturday. I caught the fish after re-attaching the reel to the rod.

Too cold to fish this morning but went anyway. Caught 7 or 8 bass. Largest was just over 4 pounds. Kept 2 around 2 pounds apiece to have for dinner tonight.

Too dang cold for fishing and not cold enough for ice fishing on a lot of lakes and ponds. Had a guy fall through and was in the water for 20 minutes till they got him out.

About time for some more fishing Fred. Snow is going away real quick and soon the ice will. DEC ordered all ice huts off the lakes by Friday. Guess they think the thaw is coming.

I went for a while Saturday wind blew me off the pond early.

There is still a lot of ice on the big lake about 15 miles from me. As the creeks warm up a little it will go fast.

Planning to go fishing next weekend.

Tomorrow starts trout season. Won't be fit to drive the roads along the local creeks and rivers. The parking lots will be full and folks will get stuck pulling off the side of the roads. Hopefully the fire danger is lower as we used to always have spring wildfires to fight when fishing opened. Saw a first yesterday. They actually put a road construction sign down in the creek to warn fisherman not to fish under the bridge they are replacing. The large pool under there is a favorite hole but not this year.

Went Saturday morning. They quit biting early but I caught enough for a good dinner.

This past weekend was fish for free in Pa. but we had hay to cut.

rained straight through from Wednesday until yesterday here. Even rained briefly today.
