I never got the flu shot until I was laid out in a big way with the Russian Flu, as it were... what a mean motor scooter that was!

I'm a believer in the shots.

That's pretty harsh. I don't get the flu shot (just turned it down Monday at my health screening even though it was free) and, to be honest, if someone has health problems such as asthma or something why is it MY responsibility to get a flu shot to protect them from it??? That'd be like me expecting everybody around me to get the shot so I don't get sick, LOL. Also, even though the risk is miniscule, there IS a small chance of passing on the vaccine viruses to others. I've had the flu ONCE in my life and I was 17 at the time...it's not worth the risk for me.

Yes it was harsh but I was trying to make a point and sometimes you need to make people think. This is reality and has happened. I am sorry if it seems like too much, but if it can save even one person's family member, that's one family that will be happy for it..

I know there's a nasal spray version available...but I have only seen ONE place offer it and that was the year that there was a swine flu epidemic. Haven't seen it offered since and it definitely wasn't an option Monday.

The US CDC shows it available everywhere.. Not sure however if you must ask for it..

I don't know with other States but the past 3 years here, it had only been available to high risk groups including health care workers. It was the Department of Health who made the decision as to which areas and departments it was distributed to.

I know when I briefly worked in a hospital i HAD to get my Flu shot.. It was mandatory with no exception.. It was also Mandatory when I worked in the Government and the only exception was if you had egg allergies.

As far as I know all public entities ( Ambulance, Firefighters, Police ) must also get Flu shots as well..

It goes without saying that all Doctors and their receptionists and Nurses get them yearly..

In Canada, if you do not have money and do not have a health issue to justify the Flu shot, you can go to the Health Clinic to get the shot. Young or old..

If you are very healthy and happen not to meet any of the risk conditions the cost of a Flu shot is $15.00 or like I said you can go wait at the health clinic and get it for free..
