Flippin' trying so hard, but not a clue......

Hi absolutely anyone who knows - please advise.

I have tried yet again to get an avatar - I saw a nice solar eclipse one which looked good - I clicked on it, thought I was doing well, then this bloody stuff came up below:

Upload jpg, gif, or png file only and not bigger than 1M bytes.

Comment to website editor:


SOOOOooooooooooooo - which name do I put in - is it my name on my comp, or my username?

What the bloody hell would the file name have to be? Don't know what to do there.

Then, what's the 'Browse' for and when do I click on that and Upload?

I keep trying, but didn't realize I had to do this, thought it was a lot easier than this!

Will be very, very, very, very much appreciated - this technical stuff does my head in! :eek I am the only one with no avatar - I want to do it myself, but do need tons of guidance.

Hmmmm....all I do when looking for a new avatar is when I find a pic I like, I right click on it and save it to My Pictures folder, then I go to the 'edit avatar' link under 'User CP.' Then I hit the browse button and My Pictures folder screen comes up, I doubleclick on the pic I want and hit the Save Changes button and it shows up as my new avatar.

OK, thanks you lovely peeps - Dodge has pm'd me to offer help too, so you're all great to take the time.

A right click eh? I didn't try that, just used left mouse click. Can't remember if I dbl clicked either.

As I have just said to Dodge, I have only just got here tonight and as I am a bit tired, will try in a day or so, so that I don't get as frustrated - hopefully.

Ok, as you know, I have done it now, got my avatar - success!!!!!! Not what I was going for originally, but this will be ok for now.
