This sadly is a reflection of what is going wrong in this country. Rather than mention the flag NBC runs a story about how whites are heading to minority status. Even fox made no mention that I saw. Sad state of affairs. They probably don't teach it in schools anymore. At least our local station ran a piece on it.

Flag Day was celebrated when I was young. Our country has different values than we grew up with.

Funny

We had Memorial day parades, but no Flag day parades.

Only one State reconizes it as a state holiday.

I love our Flag, but don't see the need to give it a "special" day as that day should be spent remembering the men who fought for it IMO.

Flag Day was just one of many days where we recognized things about our country. Today we celebrate national doughnut day.

Around here, the Elks Lodge, (Eagles and American Legion too perhaps) have services to honour the day, and area kids write essays to be read during the services.
Of course this being the digital age and heading toward Generation ME ME ME more as each year passes, simple things like this are being lost on our youth, unless it is reinforced by family and community.

I was glad to see our town had a flag on every pole up and down the main streets. Some take traditions a lot more serious than others. Same can be said for memorial and veterans day as every local vets grave gets a flag and the scouts and school kids place them. Values and traditions have not totally died yet.
