see through tights as pants should be on the list and skinny jeans if your like over size 10, you'd never catch my big butt in either of those. OH jeggings OMG NO!

Some do get away with wearing almost anything (bitches, lol), but there's an age limit...I wouldn't wear something now that I looked good wearing in my 20's, even though it might fit, etc. I just think I'm too old.

i honestly wish more people thought like this! yesterday in Target i was looking at all the cute new summer trends. there was a woman in the same section as me who i would pin for being in her early 50s. she was picking outfits and things for her size (which for her, the jr size was XXL) and trying them on FOR HER. she looked great for her age, but come on, juniors section? Im not saying people cant dress trendy or in style, but at least dress it for your age.

Gross, but I know what you mean.....I've ALWAYS worn short skirts but I think I'm at the age and shape now that they must be kept to knee length or lower. Bermuda shorts all the way or even better capri's.

oh, forgot to comment on the tube tops. when you live where temps are in the 80s in February, and reach up to over 100 in the summer, tube tops are very acceptable! Just wear them in the right setting, and wear the right size!

tubes look great underneath a filmy top which is open way down, or a light jacket. Of course, all it does is close in a gap, but still...........

EXACTLY...it's really a pet peeve of mine. I know a woman, who is very attractive and in great shape but she's around 43 or 44 years old and wears clothes that my 14 year old niece would wear.

36 is a good age, you can get away with both younger and older styles (within reason, of course).

I know what you mean, I went shopping for my mother at an "old lady" store and I bought a few things, I was shocked, I just added to the list of evidence that I'm getting old.

One thing that hasn't really been mentioned and is situation specific is dressing like a hooker. I'm all for that flaunt it if you got it thing, but at a company formal gathering, I find there to be something wholly inappropriate about dressing like that in front of your coworkers.

I wear jeans every day of the year. Even though it gets to be 115 here. I know how frightening it would be if I wore shorts or a skirt...lol.

I once walked up to the employee entrance of the court house beside a woman in fishnet stockings, black go-go boots, a mini skirt, and the sluttiest pea coat I've ever imagined (since yanno...pea coats can be slutty??? yes they can). She had big white streaks in her hair...

I immediately thought "oh this girl is lost, she's probably looking to settle a solicitation charge in circuit, I'll just tell her the public entrance is..." *whips out badge"*

OOOOK! So you look like a hooker for your court job, nice.

Oof, what about this one woman I work with, who wears pencil skirts so tight that she can barely walk right, let alone go up a step or something. I know that some guys like that stuff, but seriously?

Wait, though...you were BOTH shopping in the juniors section, right??? So it's okay for you b/c you're closer to being a junior than she is??? I mean, I ain't hating...I shop in the juniors section sometimes, too, but I was just curious.

And I agree w/ those of you who mentioned UGGS. Sorry, but it doesn't get cold enough in Georgia to need those and it looks really stupid when you wear them w/ shorts. :24:

Sounds a bit like pot calling the kettle... I mean I know there is an age difference but my aunt is in her 50s and only 4'9 and shops in the juniors section or used to...

its not pot calling kettle. its just knowing what style is for your age. shopping for a neutral article of clothing (pants/jeans, certain shirts, etc) because of your size (short/small/petite) is one thing. shopping for things that are OBVIOUSLY for the younger group, is another.

Even in my pre-pregnancy days I didn't have the guts to wear a tube top.

And now I definitely couldn't. To many stretch marks and a stomach that ripples for a week if I poke it.

I wore them when I was a teenager, though mainly the kind that covered the stomach than the itsy-bitsy kind. However, I now can't even if I want to - my breasts are too big. Either the top is too flimsy and slips down throughout the day, or it's too tight and squashes my tits into my chest to hold itself up, which just looks weird.

My sister wears them, because she has a flat stomach and a small chest, so they look good on her.

What about those awful scrunchie tops that you stretch to put on? Those should never have existed.

I don't remember exactly what they were called, but they looked something similar to this:
