It didn't look very happy. It's one of those outside horses with it's winter coat and it looked cold. Poor thing needs one of them horsie blankies.Pretty horse is pretty.
Pfft. It has lots of hair so I doubt it was cold. If our horses are fine outside here when it's -40C then I'm sure this one was nice and toasty.
The 7D isn't full frame either and that's one of the reasons I bought it. I like the 1.6 crop factor for the type of shooting I do. If I was in to shooting people type stuff there is no doubt I would have bought the 5D. The 7D is more suited to action type stuff and considering that's what I prefer it was a easy decision after all the research I did.
I shot these in my back 40 at about 6:45 Pm tonight. That makes it just before sunset so I cranked the iso up to 3200 which is 4x what I would have done on the 50D. The deer were probably 300 yards away and my 100 - 400 was at it's max. I didn't have a lot of time to make any settings because once they saw me they started to move so I shot them on auto.
I have not post processed these in any way. What you see is what came out of the camera.
If I zoom into the shots I can see a bit of noise but that's to be expected. I could clean it up using one of my programs but before I do I thought I would show you they are ok.
This is the horsie I shot for Zirc. When I pointed the camera at him and said it was for Zirc it's bottom lip started to quiver just a wee little bit.... and I'm not kidding. :24: He must have heard about her.
The weather man threatened some sun for tomorrow and I'm so excited I could squish a grape. I can't wait to try it out at 100, 200 or even 400 iso.

Not bad for the first time out. It's a complicated thing Siph and I was hoping for a good workout today but got nothing but disappointment. The weatherman was off by a mile today and the sun hasn't peeked through for even 1 minute. I took a pile of shots but nothing worth posting. I will say this about it... I love the focusing system and have that sorted out now. It makes shooting birds in flight so much easier than it was with the 50D. All I have to do is remember how to switch it from one setting to another. Other than that it tracks like a sidewinder missile. :thumbup My initial intent was to keep the 50D as a backup body but I don't think I will. Time will tell but it's doubtful I'll ever want to use it again.

Two absolutely different purposes but don't slam your shots. I looked at a bunch if you can recall and you'll have great memories you can share with my little buddy. :thumbup
