AIDS is not the death sentence it once was. There are people living extremely healthy for decades now. It's AMAZING the strides that have been made.

Don't get me wrong...I'm sure poor people are still dying regularly from AIDS. Money talks.

No, AIDS is still a death sentence, it's just that life expectancy is longer now.

In the 90's your life expectancy in the US was 10 years once you were diagnosed with AIDS, now it's 24 years.
And that 24 year expectancy is only if you can afford the very expensive treatment, about $25,200/year or $600,000 for the full 24 years.
Don't have the money or insurance, your life expectancy is less than 10 years and there are many who fit into this category.

My mother's co-worker's daughter just passed the day before yesterday from AIDS. It's so sad. It was her only daughter and she has no other family. :(

Well if there is an actual cure, someone will prove them wrong even though it may be right. There will be billions of $ lost if we had the cure for aids, cancer, etc. And isn't disease really what makes the world go round? If everyone on earth was disease free, wouldn't we be more over-populated than we are now?
