I think I should have gone with my initial instinct and done both feet flat. Or dangling. I do like the grid over the leaves though.

I disagree. The first thing I thought of when I saw the picture was that foot is going somewhere and it made me wonder where that " somewhere " was. A flash might have helped brighten it up a touch though. Oh... and the green pole on the right and your shoe ... yuck.... get 'em outa there.
