Key points with clone stamps

1) you can change it's size by clicking the "+" and "-" next to 'Brush width'. Start out with a size of about 50 just so you can see how it works - then adjust it down or up.

2) Once you have selected the tool (and change the size), hold down "CTRL" and click with the left mouse button on the area you want to to copy - e.g. click on a bit of sky.

3) Then, release the CTRL key and click with the left mouse button on other parts of the picture.

4) Rinse and repeat 1-3 until you're happy with the results.

Thanks for the explanation, video and link. I'mgoing to watch the video now and read and give it another go. This is a hard picture!!! :( But I picked out a hard one purposely cuz I really want to learn this!

The clone stamp is absolutely key. Getting used to it, adjusting it's size etc etc and seeing how it works will help you no end.

It is one of the most important tools for fixing wires and other objects that intrude on your picture.

Hence I cannot stress it enough and am badgering you to get to use it. You'll make mistakes, yes - but it's all part of the learning process. Just don't think "it's too much, I can't do it" because you *can*. :)

Thanks Siph! I read it I watched the video, which makes it look so easy, and I have directions memorized. This might take me a while but I will get it right! Thank you for the encouragement!!! :)

Ian but that was the original color and I have no idea how to tone it down. Unless you want to explain to me how to do that? Was my cloning successful enough?

I have another picture that I'm going to work on and I'm getting rid of a lot in it!!! It's full of powerlines and poles and I mean full!!! :willy_nilly:

Use the quick selection tool on the sky, and then reduce the level of the brightness by a bit

though there wasn't anything you could do about that brightness, only experience would tell you next time not to shot directly towards the sun :thumbup

I don't have a quick selection tool. I have Auto Level which I tried and it made it brigher! I can tone the brightness down more but the picture gets dark And yes this was a sunrise picture so I shot directly at it. Obviously it wasn't a good sunrise this morning. :(

It's there because of too much back lighting. From what I can tell the sun was more in front of her than behind. It could be quite a challenge to tone it down.

What you can do though is replace the entire sky so you get rid of the glare. A bit of lighting adjustment kinda helps as well.

This took me less than 1 minute to do so if a person could spend more time on it they could make it really pop.

My try... 7a9de4d1.png

I think your cloning is a whole lot better - in that last try for sure, I'm assuming you used the clone stamp? If so- very well done!

Yes sir Siph I used the clone stamp but the darn thing broke on me when I went to do another picture. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the clone stamp is still not working right. I know that I'm doing everything right. Its not opening its mouth like pacman. It turns into a tiny square now. :(

And guyz thank you for showing me what you could do with the picture but that is beyond me right now. I am a total NEWBIE in Photoshopping.

And thank you MMM! :)

I don't use the program you are using but there should be a selection to have either a round or square cloner thingy. You can also change it's size according to your needs. With the clone tool selected just look around for the options. Usually they are somewhere on the menu bar.

Just keep fooling around with it and you'll catch on soon enough. Just make sure you are working on a copy of your original shot. You don't want to mess up an original and have nothing to go back to. I usually copy and paste the shot into a separate folder so I don't have an accident.

The first one is really good and I had to actually LOOK for the wire after you mentioned missing it. The second one still needs a lot of work...the biggest thing being fixing where you can tell that the wire was removed b/c the tree is blurred as well as the sky next to it.

HOWEVER...I don't even use Photoshop and you did a ton better than what I could've done. LOL
