you thought that a rematch might happen with platini in control
so if this happened to a country you liked would you want a replayAnyway fuck them, they had no sympathy for us in 86, what goes around comes around.
yet justice needs to be seen to be doneNo, as it's nothing to do with me as I am neither from Germany or New Zealand.
What i will say is I think FIFA here have done the right thing, as if they had granted a replay to Ireland, then every team who felt they had been cheated out of a game would want one, and one would have to be granted because Ireland got a replay and you cant just not give a replay. It would set a dangerous precedent.
yet justice needs to be seen to be done
the English still moan about Maradona's had of God, are we to now going to have to listen to the irish for next 20 years
but the precedent is already setRight let's just say FIFA had granted Irelands replay.
Now tomorrow in the Premier League Liverpool play Manchester City, lets say it's 1-1 in the 85th minute. Yossi Benayoun goes through, dives to win a penalty (everyone can see its a dive apart from the match officials) and Liverpool score the penalty and win 2-1. Now City can turn around if they so wished and say "We want a replay". And because FIFA have granted Ireland their rematch Manchester City would have to get a replay as it wouldn't be fair.
See, it would have been a dangerous precedent to set. And it wouldn't have just been City, it would have been Man United, it would have been Chelsea, it would have been Stockport County. Basically every team that feel they have had a decision go against them would have had the right to a replay.
West Ham have not played in a meaningful game in decadesI can only imagine if this had happened to Peter's West Ham pie fighters...he would have been bull$hit
