What about points per reception? I know we didn't do it in this league last year, but it's been done in a lot of my other leagues in the past. It tends to boost the value of possession receivers. My other thought would be bonuses for long passing/receiving/rushing TDs? Though I can't remember if Yahoo lets you do that or not.

I can't get back into Yahoo until I get home since work opens it from 12-2 for lunch time.

I'll see if that's even an option... but I don't think it is. :(

My opinion would be to change completions to .25 or .5 per... or remove them altogether. Points per rushing attempt shouldn't have any points, as there really isn't any "skill" for lack of a better word, it's just a matter of a run being called for them.

I can see downgrading it from 1 point. I honestly didn't think of going to decimals when I set it up.

However, I have a minor problem with WR and TE getting credit for touches when RB don't. Maybe make receptions .5 and rushes .25?

Thoughts?

Also, implemented a penalty if your kicker chokes on a chip shot. :D

personally, I don't see why completions/incompletions should be part of a stat for the QB
QB points for passing plateaus:
100 yards or less 0 points
101-199 : 1 point
200-299: 2 points
300-399 3 points
400+ 25 points

The problem there is that most RBs are going to get some receptions in a game, and they're going to get about 15-20 touches at minimum. So if you're giving out points for rushing attempt, then you're basically starting off every game with your RBs having 10 points. Plus, if it's a good rushing team with a lead, they're basically going to be feeding the ball to the back in the last quarter of the game for the most part as well.

True...

However, if everybody knows this walking in then wouldn't it still be fair?

If you are looking at a RB, you would value one who plays on a team that tends to jump out in front and then grind it out for the 4th quarter. There are backs who specialize in this in fact. Most of the time, you wouldn't draft a FB, but if his team has a history of using him to close out a game it might be worth a pick.

Either way, I'm good with whatever everybody wants to do. :)

Honestly, I wouldn't make it so complicated. You have two people who don't even live in the country, and therefore probably have no idea what you're even saying right now. And I only started actually watching football a few seasons ago. We aren't all gung-ho guys who eat, sleep and breathe football.

IMO, from the inexperienced side of the coin, don't make things a thousand times more complicated than they need to be.

Wait wait, I won't have to work any of this out will I?

I sort of assumed this would be a case of picking the man with the biggest smile and sitting back while he ploughed through the competition :ninja

I agree, don't worry. We won't go all "geek boy" here. Leah will slap me down if I try to do that. My simple rule is that if I can't explain it to her in under two minutes it doesn't get into the game. :p

Just do what Leah did her first year:

  1. Let Yahoo draft your team for you.
  2. Take the first couple of weeks to get the idea of how it works.
  3. Ignore names and focus on stats.
  4. Smile pretty and take advantage of stupid males.
  5. Rely on beginners luck.
  6. Celebrate.

:D

My goal is to get the stats figured out by this weekend.

After that and until Draft time,we'll be running a "Football 101" camp in here, explaining exactly what each position does and what each stat measures.

By the time the Draft starts we'll be on the same page. :)
