Okey Dokey... Predatory Lender's Partner in Crime- Washington Post. :)

BTW, I don't know how you voted, so I tried to make that a generalized statement. My apologies if you were offended.
I honestly have no good response to that article. The bottom line is, subprime lending is generally (but not always) bad, and anyone who assists or advocates for subprime lending isn't doing a good thing for us or our country, even though the idea sounds good on the surface. If Bush advocated and assisted subprime lending, well shame on him!

BTW, I'm not saying that we need more government regulation on the matter - on the contrary, I think the government needs to leave the lending market alone. I still do not agree with the bailout of the financial institutions - it just means they will not learn their lesson this time around, and will repeat the same mistakes.

And no offense taken, I just wanted to be sure that you knew I wasn't included in that category. ;)

More Expectations: Health Care:

Barack Obama and Joe Biden's Plan

On health care reform, the American people are too often offered two extremes - government-run health care with higher taxes or letting the insurance companies operate without rules. Barack Obama and Joe Biden believe both of these extremes are wrong, and that’s why they’ve proposed a plan that strengthens employer coverage, makes insurance companies accountable and ensures patient choice of doctor and care without government interference.
The Obama-Biden plan provides affordable, accessible health care for all Americans, builds on the existing health care system, and uses existing providers, doctors and plans to implement the plan. Under the Obama-Biden plan, patients will be able to make health care decisions with their doctors, instead of being blocked by insurance company bureaucrats.
Under the plan, if you like your current health insurance, nothing changes, except your costs will go down by as much as $2,500 per year.
If you don’t have health insurance, you will have a choice of new, affordable health insurance options.

Make Health Insurance Work for People and Businesses - Not Just Insurance and Drug Companies.

  • Require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions so all Americans regardless of their health status or history can get comprehensive benefits at fair and stable premiums.
  • Create a new Small Business Health Tax Credit to help small businesses provide affordable health insurance to their employees.
  • Lower costs for businesses by covering a portion of the catastrophic health costs they pay in return for lower premiums for employees.
  • Prevent insurers from overcharging doctors for their malpractice insurance and invest in proven strategies to reduce preventable medical errors.
  • Make employer contributions more fair by requiring large employers that do not offer coverage or make a meaningful contribution to the cost of quality health coverage for their employees to contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of their employees health care.
  • Establish a National Health Insurance Exchange with a range of private insurance options as well as a new public plan based on benefits available to members of Congress that will allow individuals and small businesses to buy affordable health coverage.
  • Ensure everyone who needs it will receive a tax credit for their premiums.
Reduce Costs and Save a Typical American Family up to $2,500 as reforms phase in:

  • Lower drug costs by allowing the importation of safe medicines from other developed countries, increasing the use of generic drugs in public programs and taking on drug companies that block cheaper generic medicines from the market
  • Require hospitals to collect and report health care cost and quality data
  • Reduce the costs of catastrophic illnesses for employers and their employees.
  • Reform the insurance market to increase competition by taking on anticompetitive activity that drives up prices without improving quality of care.
The Obama-Biden plan will promote public health. It will require coverage of preventive services, including cancer screenings, and increase state and local preparedness for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.
A Commitment to Fiscal Responsibility: Barack Obama will pay for his $50 - $65 billion health care reform effort by rolling back the Bush tax cuts for Americans earning more than $250,000 per year and retaining the estate tax at its 2009 level.

Your posting this info because:

1) You're excited that there is the possibility for improvement under Obama's leadership.
2) You're hoping and expecting Obama to fail and you want to get all your pseudo expectations documented for future vindication of the pseudo conservative standard.

I voted for him based upon these "assertions" made by him during the campaign (note: I did not call them "promises"). He created expectations based upon these assertions. I want to track how he does on his assertions or, in alternative, how he justifies not meeting his assertions.
You must admit he has a tall order to fill and he already has started to back-off of his assertions. And not even sworn in yet. ;)

Are you hoping for better or are you trying to have your cake and eat it to? -voting for Obama, your way of voting/hoping for change while trying to stay in good with the conservative crowd in this forum?

No, don't answer, I won't believe anything you say unless you call Bush a buffoon, and bad mouth recent Republican leadership, in multiple posts, then I'd have to think about it.. ;)

Well, at least you admit it. :)

I am not hoping for failure

But I expect it

Too many promises which people lapped up like a drooling hound dog.

Might be different too if he came from some place other than Chicago. That place is known for political shenanigans. I would not trust anybody from those parts when it comes to politics.

I've posted it here before, I voted for Obama because he will do less damage than McCain and, in fact, is the best thing for the conservative movement. Now he stated his position on many issues of concern to the American public. Lets see if he meets those expectations.

PS: I don't give a flying fig about the "conservative crowd" in this forum. We, meaning conservatives, are self-reliant another point of separation from you "it takes a village" liberals.

tis true

he don't give a shit about nobody :D

my kind of guy :D

Not quite true. I do give a shit about people; I just don't need their approval for my political positions. Name a speech in which a liberal didn't say "we", as if they worked a real fucking day in their life. :24: :D ;)

It does take a village or similar sentiment, ie, cooperative efforts for any society to be a success.

That would be true if that was the context it was used in but it wasn't. Here is another liberal thought pattern: It takes oxygen for people to succeed. Or my personnal fav: "But what about the children?"

Emotional appeal with lack of substance or so general that it can be used to justify anything; the liberal mantra.

Perhaps some Republicans currently are. But you cannot base an entire party off of a few people's actions. The Republican party still stands for small government, even if it doesn't always happen every time a Republican is elected.

So, we have two choices:
- Vote Republican, which advocates small government, but sometimes screws up and makes the government bigger.
- Vote Democrat, which advocates big government, and always manages to make it bigger.

So, if you or anyone else is a proponent of small government, why in the world would you vote Democrat? No, the Repulicans aren't perfect, but at least you have a chance at a smaller government, whereas with Dems they're just going to grow it as big as they possibly can!
:humm:hey, I kinda like the bolded statement....I would repeat it to yourselves as often as possible...:thumbup
