Fucking hell, I've been fighting with this damn thing for the better part of three days (Thursday, Friday, and today... with a little bit over the weekend as well). It kept erroring out during the installation process and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why.
Well, yay Microsoft... one of the updates that was required for me to install it interfered with an update that had been installed previously. The only problem was that I couldn't find which one it was. So I had to manually uninstall updates one at a time until I found the proper one. Now the install is working fine and I have to install the old updates again once it's done.
There's probably a big chunk of you going, huuuuuuh. So...
TL;DR
Software was broken
Fixed software, but the fix broke something else
Fixed the something else
Software works now
