To be fair, when I had mine done they had JUST switched to Livescan and it was probably more the user than the device. I just remember having to redo several fingers multiple times b/c they weren't picking up a complete scan.

Probably just teething problems being new to using it, don't think they ever had to redo mine and it saves a lot of time farting about putting ink on your hands.
