Anyone have this?

Ive had an enlarged thyroid for a few years. The doc did an ultrasound and they said it was fine, but now im starting to have problems. When I lay down, I feel like there is a brick on my throat. I cant breath deep or anything. My throat is tight all the time now and it feels like I am constantly straining. When I am working out, It feels like i cant take in enough air. I have a hard time swallowing and now after I talk all night, I feel a sharp pain go down the side of my throat. Not sure what the hell is going on. I do have hypotyroidism as well

just wanted to know if anyone else have experienced this.

I did with multiple nodules. My biopsy came back with Hurthle cells, which may or may not be cancer. It kept growing so we decided that it should be removed. Took the whole thing out because of the size and number of nodules. Ended up not being cancerous. It never gave me any problems and it fuctioned fine.

A friend of mine had a benign tumor on her thyroid (i think) started small so that when docs felt her neck he denied anything was there even though she insisted there was a lump. after a few months it got much bigger. The doctor told her at this point if it got any bigger it would start to obstruct her breathing and she had it removed. Maybe time to go back to the docs if it is causing discomfort?

I went to the doctor.. Had an ultrasound again, found out I have 2 nodules.. They are sending me to a specialist now. We dont know if its cancerous or not right now. All I know is that the one on my left side is large, and that is the one that is causing all my pain as far as the shooting pain, etc. Gotta say that I am freaking out slightly. :( I have only told 2 people at work .. Not sure how to take my news. Im worried until I know more. :(

yea, it is.. And the internet isnt good to look at.. All the sites I looked at are all telling me that its more than likely cancer if it causes problems swallowing and feels like a brick when laying down.. LOL so greattt!!! LOL

But thats the internet for ya. lol

I remember those feelings. Remember, most thyroid cancers are easily treatable. If they're going to a fine needle biopsy, it's a little painful (it can hit a nerve that runs to the ear) but it's not terrible.

My missus has thyroid problems, overractive thyroid. Dont know much about it, I just try and look after her by keeping the housework done but I think it contributes to her weight gain.

Everything will be fine, V. Like I said to you earlier, even if it does turn out to be cancer, you've caught it early. And STOP looking stuff up on the internet...all that's good for is convincing you that you're dying or that you've got some obscure disease b/c 1 out of 10 symptoms fits what's going on w/ you.

When my blood issues surfaced 8 years ago I made the mistake of checking things out on the internet

My doctor had me convinced I had an issue which based on doing internet research indicated the most I could expect would be to live another 15 years at best.

I tested negative later on some tests and still have something going on but no idea what it is. In the meantime my blood issue instead of advancing has just gradually regressed over the years.

I also remember about 40 years ago my sister having blood in her urine and the doctor indicating it could be cancer. Turns out she had a weird kidney and there was nothing major going on other than an infection.

I don't make like of the concern. I was devastated when I was diagnosed.

Keep the faith. The best thing is to have your mind distracted until you get something final. If your hubby can't handle this task I can always send the plane to pick you up and bring you back for days and nights of awesome sex. :D
