English is basically Anglo Saxon language that was spoken as early as 450 AD in England and Scotland. The current British English comes form Anglo Saxon language, also called Old English. The language spread to other parts of the world when British spread and started to colonize countries. Today, there are many variations of the language and the most popular are British English, American English and Australian English.

I grew up and live in the United States so I only use American English. So I say things like parking lot, and apartment. I don't say car park or flat lol.
