I think sometimes the USA goes a bit far with their flag worship but in some ways I respect them for it, wish people would proudly display the England flag more often than a few football matches. We're getting better at it and I was pleased to see this, randomly hung today on the fountain outside. England!

The Irish are a lot like USA people, never need an excuse to display their flag. Because of a lot of dirty tabloid press over here though, its almost seen as shameful or racist. Its the one thing we need to catch up with and be proud to be English! :thumbup

I'm proud to be English, I just don't feel the need to hang a tatty bit of cloth out my window to prove it.

Being patriotic is fine, but does it have to be so... messy? I prefer the effort people go to on special events, like the royal wedding or the jubilee, when everything is nicely organised and laid out.

People are so used to the Union Jack (which I hate and like to see burnt) when they see the England flag they usually think its from Poland or some other random country, that is not good! I want our flag to be instantly recognised!

Haha funny you should say that, my boss came to my house one day and was like I thought you were English, I told him I was and he then asked why I had Polands flag ob the wall. I had to Google the flag cause he was convinced the Union Jack was our flag and wouldn't take my word for it. Duhhhhhh silly Yanks Haha.

I don't feel the need to hang a flag to let people know I am patriotic and I am proud to be Scottish. I don't like the Union Jack, my flag is St. Andrew's flag. I see me as being Scottish, not British. The wedding was a joke. There was no need for all the tat to be on sale and the flags and all that pish. It was a wedding FFS.
