Eh white girl's named Ebony?

I think of Natasha as having Russian origins and automatically think of a white person. Maybe because of Rocky and Bullwinkle?

There are some names that are predominant in one race over another; it just is that way. If you hear the name Shaniqua, what comes to mind? If you hear Elizabeth? George? Tyrone?

I lived with a black girl for a couple of months and she and I had an interesting talk on names- she said she was sick and tired of the black people she knew trying to mess names up and come up with something unique. What's wrong with sticking to Billy and Sarah? It was interesting. For the record, her name was Ebony. I loved living with her. We had the most frank and open discussions I've ever had with anyone. I learned a lot.

:homo: I thought it was a form of Anastasia.

Russian diminutive of Natalya. This is the name of a character in Leo Tolstoy's novel 'War and Peace' (1865). It has been used in the English-speaking world only since the 20th century.

Interesting... I would have gone with Anastasia, too.
