I've heard the bible described as a Rorschach inkblot. Basically it's got everything and nothing. You see what you're looking for.

One reason why you have to digest the WHOLE Book. Too many people IMO cling onto certain sections and use that as a "rallying cry" for whatever reason. Believe me, the Old Testament gets pretty hard for me to digest at times LOL

Hey, just follow the ten commandants (not a bad set of rules to live your life by even if you don't believe in a God) and hope for the best;)

Hey it's your Bible. I'm just not someone who can believe in a religion based on a 'holy' book with completely insane babble in it. But yanno... that's just me. :tooth

Very well said.

For myself, I try to find the good, not the bad. Kind of hard to believe when I consider people the scourge of the earth and they have to prove me wrong first LOL

Lets face it, perhaps the one Monk who was ready to write down all the answers was put to death for that reason.

I would like to believe however that since I've been here that I haven't tried to shove any of my beliefs down anyones throat.

Hey, I believe in a God and you don't, I'm cool with that LOL

I've read the whole thing a couple times and went to may bible studies. You have to pick and choose which parts to follow because if you did follow some parts literally, you'd wind up in prison.

If you are looking for guidance in how to live a wise, kind and good life, why not read the teachings of Lao Tzu or Confucius or Buddha? They make alot more sense than the barbaric Abrahamic teachings.

In the Bible, Jesus advocated drunkeness. I fail to see how anyone who claims to be a christian can frown on alcohol consumption.

It's not unusual for religions to impose eating restrictions. Jews can't eat pork. Catholics can't eat meat on Fridays or it was that way when I was a boy anyway. The school cafeteria served fish on Fridays. How the hell is fish not a meat?

It's some kind of a symbolic sacrifice, just like Jesus's sacrifice for the human race. ;)
