Theese laws do not apply today for christians.
And the context of the verses in the OP is different than the context of Leviticus 18:22?
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."
I think the original post was meant for exactly what it got until now hehe, general agreement and puns
That's the point of the letter to Dr. Laura in the OP. Basically everyone discards at least part of the bible. It's just a matter of how much you discard. Sensible people discard Leviticus 18:22.
those laws were for the ancient jews, to regulate law and cleanliness. Theres alot of preventative medicine laws in leviticus. Theese laws do not apply today for christians.
We have a winner!
Discarding any part of the Bible is a sin regardless of the time, no? This is why it is so hard to accept religion in entirety for me. Each one decides which part of the Bible, which is supposed to be God's word, they decide to follow. Shouldn't it be all or nothing?

Religious should stop calling the Bible the Word of God. Clearly it is a creation of ancient superstitious men and should be called "Man's God Book".
I agree. You'd like Bishop John Shelby Spong. He's been saying for years we need to stop attaching the label "Word of God" to oppressive and destructive doctrines. An example he gives of a destructive doctrine is "be fruitful and multiply." That may have served the ancient Hebrews well but that is not what our society needs.
