Everyone gets sad at one time or another. Sometimes those enduring sadness need a happy person to shed some light on their situation. I don't get this poem.
It simply states ''AVOID BAD COMPANY""!
Actually 'don't sit with anyone but those whose hearts are glad' doesn't sound like 'bad company', it sounds like people who are miserable aren't worth being around. If they meant 'bad company' then they should have said it.
Not a very nice sentiment.
That could be it. I don't think it's very good advice though - sometimes the people who can offer the best advice are those who've been through the same troubles, or are still going through them.
If you're talking about people who are literally sick then no, it makes no sense whatsoever to consult them rather than a doctor.
Why do you always bring a discussion round to talking about homosexuals?
Gays nearly have equal rights in the US, but that doesn't mean they can shout from the rooftops that they're gay. There's still a big problem with homosexuality in many areas of the US, but I don't think it's any bigger of a problem here than much of Europe or Asia.
