I was raised in Hindu culture, and according to Hinduism eating after sunset is not good. Interestingly, this has also been supported by modern since as studies have found that eating late at night disrupts digestion. Ayurveda, Hindu healing system, and modern research both support avoiding meals after dark to prevent weight gain and other health issues.

That’s true. Eating late disrupts circadian rhythms, affecting metabolism and sleep quality. Ayurveda emphasizes aligning meals with natural cycles, while modern science links early eating to better weight control, improved digestion, and reduced risk of chronic diseases.

I’ve tried avoiding eating after sunset to improve digestion and sleep. It helps prevent late-night snacking and reduces acid reflux for me. While it’s not a strict rule, giving your body a break before bed feels healthier and supports better rest.

I am Muslim and in our religion eating a lot at any time of the day (or night) is also discouraged. So, it doesn't matter whether you eat during the day or night, overeating is still harmful. A person should always be moderate and avoid overeating. I have attached a few quotes of Our Beloved, Holy, Best of All Prophets, Holy Prophet Muhammad (SallallahuAlaihiWaAlahiWaSallam), which people can read related to this topic.

Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib said:

"I heard the Messenger of Allah (S.a.w) saying: 'The human does not fill any container that is worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat what will support his back. If this is not possible, then a third for food, a third for drink, and third for his breath." (Tirmidhi, 2380)

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would spend several nights in a row with an empty stomach and his family would not find anything for dinner. Most of their bread was made from barley. ( Sunan al-Tirmidhi,2360)

I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, spend the entire day suffering from hunger. He could not find even the worst dates with which to fill his stomach. (Sahih Muslim 2978)

The unbeliever eats with seven intestines, and the believer eats with one intestine. (Sahih Bukhari, 5079)
