Teenagers often compare themselves to curated online images, which can impact confidence and identity. Is social media a major cause of low self-esteem, or just one factor? How should it be managed?

I am against generalization. Some teens might certainly have issues with over use of social media but I do not think everyone is experiencing issues with self esteem

I believe social media can affect teen self-esteem and identity formation over time. Constant comparison, validation-seeking, and exposure to curated content may shape self-image and confidence. Positive engagement, supportive communities, and media literacy can mitigate harm, but unmoderated use carries long-term psychological risks.
