Some teammates say yoga has helped them stay injury-free and more flexible. Does consistent yoga actually improve performance in competitive sports like football or basketball? What yoga routines help athletes the most?

I think consistent yoga can enhance performance in competitive sports. It improves flexibility, balance, focus, and breathing, key elements for athletic efficiency. Yoga also aids recovery, reduces injury risk, and boosts mental resilience under pressure.

I think it is as per experience of my friend from India. She said doing Yoga improves her well-being. She also finds peace and relaxing mood.

I started practising yoga several years ago and I fully recognise how it helps me. Through yoga, I have obtained better flexibility and I have also improved my balance.

I believe it can certainly help. That's because yoga is not just about physical exercise, it is also about mental exercise. It helps you will emotional well being as well

I do not like yoga at all. There are certain studies that suggest that yoga can actually hurt you. For example, a study suggested that certain kinds of yoga poses can cause serious damage to your spine.

If you do not have a gym instructor, working out in gym also damages your body. Yoga is more than moving your limbs and body, it is very technical. Can you point me to studies where yoga can hurt you. I have not read any studies that say yoga is harmful.

This study was conducted by National Institute of Health. You can find the study entitled as "Soft Tissue and Bony Injuries Attributed to the Practice of Yoga: A Biomechanical Analysis and Implications for Management."

I read the study, it does not conclude that yoga contributed to the damages to the tissues, it says bad posture during yoga. If you do not do something correctly, it will certainly harm you. For instance, it is very common to get injured in gym.

Well, I know that. However, usually many people go into positions that usually harms their back while doing yoga. They may not realize that; however, bad effects of yoga could be noticed after some time. Majority of the yoga postures involve bending your back. So, going into such postures is a part of yoga, which could mean that yoga could be harmful in this way or the other.
