I have been posting on forums since 2013. However, I did not create my own forum until 2017. Currently, I own two forums, one sports forum and another mental health forum. I also manage forums for a lot of clients. Do you run a forum, what kind of forum do you run, is it on open source platform or uses premium software?

No, he he. I do not run a forum site. I lack skills in that. I only like to post on a forum site that I like. A forum site requires maintenance, which I can't do because of my work.

Yes, I run a forum focused on technology and innovation. It uses an open-source platform because it’s flexible and easy to customize. Managing the community is rewarding, and I enjoy helping members share knowledge and solve problems together ;)

@Nomad . Happy to know of your journey from a forum poster to forum owner. Best of luck for your future endeavors. You are definitely too busy with all at your hand.
I don't own a forum and I have no intention of it in future either. I am a part of about half a dozen forums. I wish that they get stronger. I plan to have forum posting as maim engagement in my post retirement years.

I was basically a blogger, but when I was looking for additional income opportunities, I found forums. I started posting on forums and at one time I was posting on as many as 20 forums and making as many as 200 posts every day. When I started my forum, my main intention was to earn revenue just like from my blogs. However, these days I am mainly looking forward to grow my community.

That's an interesting journey. And no doubt it's a lot of time and effort that goes there. 200 posts in a day is impressive. I am not sure that even when I take it up as a full time job, I will be able to reach that kind of number. Growing a community is the right goal..with a vibrant, active and valuable contributors, your forum will have better prospects to grow and generate more revenues? I know that online job is your primary source of income. I am just curious to know if it has been profitable enough for you to sustain a living??

There was a time when 70 percent of my expenses were covered by the revenue generated from my sites, however, after the Corana pandemic, my income from websites drastically dropped. These days I don't earn like I used to in the past but my sites still contribute 40 percent of my income

That is still fine if you are able to generate 40 percent of your income from websites. It takes lots of efforts for a person to reach at this level. I have always posted on the forums for fun and some residual income. I know by posting on the forums I cannot earn much but it's the easiest way to earn online.

Well, you still can earn well from forums, preferably by working on someone else's forums. I run two forums and my income is less than $50 from my forums. However, I manage and post on clients forums and easily make $200-$300 per month.
