Do you give money to the homeless?

If they come up and bother me I don't normally give them money, unless I'm in a generous mood. But if they're quietly sitting on the sidewalk then yes, I tend to give my change to homeless people. It's nice to help.

So a few years back I was walking down Venice beach doing the tourist thing and there was a very scary homeless man yelling at people for money. He was swearing and screaming at everyone who walked by him.
All he kept saying was, "I'm f*****g hungry. Why won't anyone give me money?" But to this day it still bothers me because I did not give him money either. Not because I didn't want to but because he was so scary that I didn't want to approach him. Which is quite pathetic of me I must say.:( But now I make sure if a homeless person needs money I give it to him. Because really who am I to judge?
Absolutely correct! BTW, I'm homeless. Do you have a checking account? I'll pm you my address.

Yeah I've given change to homeless people, there a few in Sydney city. Some ask for change for train tickets, one guy sat next to me and asked for some of my Tic Tacs at Town Hall Station lmao. But most of the time I don't carry money on me anyway so if they ask I have to say I don't carry it on me =/ Usually I will just dump all my change on them if there's a shitload of silver.

if someone is honest holding a sign that says "why lie, i need a beer" i will give some change. i have offered food and for the most part they have taken it. i also ask them if they know about the shelters in the area as well. i am a sucker for some stories though.....

I do not give money to homeless people in Brussels.
The social system her is excellent, there is no need for begging. More than once I have come across 'homeless' people in designer clothing!
Much of the begging in Brussels is an organised 'occupation' of sorts, where groups of people take it in shifts to beg for money.
