Okay, I am in a dilemma

My hair is hip length. Some people say to me that it is too long.
Sometimes I contemplate on cutting about 5 inches off. My husband would probably not speak to me for months. But it is just so much to look after and in hot weather, I am really hot, cause I never wear my hair up.

But when the time comes to cut it, I chicken out. I do love my long hair, but it can also be a pain in the ass at times.
Everytime I go to the hairdressers, my lady who cuts it, is not scissor happy, and says she has never seen such long hair in this good a condition, and really would hate cutting it. I am torn on what to do.

Has any of you girls had really long hair and cut it off. If you did. How did you feel after?!

I used to have pretty long hair, maybe not hip length but 3/4s of the way down my back. I got it cut to just below my shoulders a few years back as I started to feel like a witch lol I personally prefer it since I got it cut but no one can really tell you how you'll feel!

I haven't had long hair, but I suggest maybe going slow with the length loss. If it's to your hip, maybe take it to where Niamh said her's was, like 3/4 down...see how you like it. It can be incredibly scary to lop off all that hair at once.

learn to wear it pulled back and off your neck, that will help in the warm weather.

My wife has beautiful hair that was below her belt. She just got 3" or so cut off with a nice layering to frame her face. It really looks good and it keeps her from getting to hot.

She went through a phase of wanting to cut it shorter or get bangs (shiver) and my suggestion to her is to go get a wig with the style she wanted. Try it out for a week or two, because once you cut it, it's gone... she was really glad she didn't get it cut on impulse,

When I was a child I had hair down to my bum But it used to get so knotty and I would complain so much that my mum decided it had to go. It broke my dads heart and made me feel like a boy (even though it was still shoulder length). I cant get it anywhere near that length now without it getting too thin and limp looking so if I were you I'd keep it

Oh yeah that's true, I remember when I was a teenager getting my hair cut and she cut waaaaaaaay shorter that I wanted, I developed a fear of hairdressers after that haha, that's probably why I let my hair grow so long after!

i head the same length and five inches wasn't too much to notice a difference so i'd say do it...however...don't go any shorter you'll regret it. i did that too and i'm only just past my shoulder blades now so around the middle of my back. its taken forever.

Niamh, I see what you mean. I sometimes wonder about the witch thing lol. Especially after I dyed it black. Looked great for holloween when I went as a witch hahaha.
