Ok basically i'm going to shut up, i think it says it all about your lifestyle that your paying for someone to do the hard work for you *shrugs*

Actually I was going to a therapist for anxiety issues, so that way I wouldn't have to take pills. .The fact that he is also a dietitian was a happy side effect..

Offer all the advice you want, just don't be a dick about it.

@boomerang, Caffeine withdrawls suck..I gave up coffee and soda a few months ago and I had headaches for a week or two. Eventually it stops and you'll start having natural energy again. Protein works well when you feel a little tired, perks you up a bit. I usually eat beef jerky or something like that midday when I start feeling tired.

what
the
fuck
?

getting help from a dietitian is allowing them to do the hard work for you? are you for real?

the dietitian can only give information and attempt to educate, it is still up to the person to change their lifestyle and that isnt easy. nobody else can do that but the person.

or do you really expect people to just figure it out on their own through trial and error?

if a person can change their lifestyle faster and become a healthier person sooner as a result of good solid advice and council from a dietitian then i say good for them.

Basically yes, put the effort in here and you are less likely to fail. Paying for advice like this is ridiculous when it is all stuff you can easily find out for yourself, the whole process with or without a dietician will still be about trial and error...i see it as lazy and a total waste of money though....

..... i am going to apologise for my comment, i have to agree that was very dickish of me, but its just my opinion, i happen to feel strongly about. I am absolutly facinated with diets, foods, supplemnets, how protein syntehsises in the body, optimun variables for the best breakdowns of foods, amino acid profiles, how fat is stored and what cause this, what hormones cause certain things to happen, the types of carbs you can get and which is best...literally everything

I have lost 65 pounds since last April by cutting out about 90% of my sugar intake. No more soda, not even diet. Well, rarely. I think I've had 6 or 7 glasses since April.

I was using splenda but was having problems w/hair loss & joint pain. After over 2 months of going back to organic sugar in my coffee/tea, both problems are gone.

Now granted, since Thanksgiving I've kinda been on 'vacation'. I'd gained about 10 pounds back. Been back to it lately and that weight is starting to come back off.... Chocolates on sale is a bitch ;)

Plus with working at night since December, I'd be coming home, eating dinner and then going to bed a couple of hours later. That's had to stop too.....

For me, (before my vacation) it's been all about making smarter, low sugar choices. I eat more now than I did on any other 'diet' I'd tried...

Finding something that is a lifestyle change and not a diet has been key for me.

Good luck :)

p.s. I also kept a food diary for a few months. Every single thing I ate I wrote down. First time in my life I'd ever done that. I thought it was silly, but it really did help me to track what I ate and be accountable for what I ate. I think it helped in the beginning.

Whose to say the information you look up is even accurate or healthy?

Whose to say the information you look up is even accurate or healthy?

good point and the reason why you cant rely on your own research. an EXPERT would have more reliable information or simply more specific information.

i've done my own research and it's been confirmed through dietitians i've seen like the one through cardiac rehab and cost me nothing. i like the fact i had the information confirmed but not everyone can. not as a bonus like that anyway.

having the knowledge either way is a good thing, regardless whether you got it on your own or sought a dietitian. you still have to change your diet, get more exercise, change your mindset and attitude towards your health. getting information is easy period, it's actually doing the work that is hard. sticking with it is hard.

calling getting information hard work is total fucking bullshit. not compared to everything else you have to change to become healthy it isnt, not by a long shot. anyone can use google, not everyone can wake up every day and eat the right foods, get the regular exercise and change everything about themselves that easily. if it wasnt so offensive, i'd say his claim is laughable.

the last thing a person needs is to be brow beaten over how they got their information.

Ok, so my energy is pretty much completely gone. Is there anything I can eat/take that will make it come back? I think my body is having a hard time coping with eating a lot less and working a lot more.

Eat more fats, its simple the body will use them for energy and not store them. beside the more fats you intake the less of it your body will store anyway

Okay, you obviously have no idea what you are doing. While there are some healthy fats, they should be eaten sparingly.

If that was the case, then I would be so fucking skinny since I consume a large amount of fatty food, and my body wouldn't store the fat since I would have an excessive amount of it.

If you eat an excessive amount of fats, your body WILL store them and you WILL gain weight. Seriously. WTF where do you get your information?

make gradual changes, not drastic sudden ones. that's why your body isnt handling it very well.

I just weighed myself and I have lost 6 pounds! Woohoo.

I will have to try the peanut thing, Iris. I am just not a huge fan of peanuts.

i am also going to suggest two things for you to consider adding to your diet. lentils and chickpeas. they're awesome stuff. chickpeas offers carbs and protein and have a low glycemic index so it wont raise your blood sugar very much even though it has carbs in it, very important for someone who is diabetic like me. but in general both are underutilized in america kitchens but very good for you.

but they can make ya fartsy. lol
