Never ever ever skip breakfast! It really is the most important meal of the day, get your enrgy from the first hour and you will be less inclined to eat unhealthy foods later, eating breakfast helps aid fat lose this way.

Can you give some healthy breakfast recommendations/suggestions?

So I have started my diet! I need to lose some major poundage.

It seems like most everyone has been on a diet at least once in their life. What worked for you? Do you have any yummy healthy snack suggestions?

Unfortunately I didn't grow up eating vegetables and now I despise them...at least all the green ones anyway. I am having a hard time finding healthy foods that I do like.

I am tired of feeling chubby. :( Suggestions wanted/needed.

I never could lose weight from diet. But I also ate like shit for ages.

Unless your pics are old I am not seeing the weight issue. But back in the day I felt I needed to lose weight when I was fine.

I lost weight mainly from walking. Also doing some weight lifting will help. Muscles will eat up calories better than fat. It just is a matter of not getting discouraged at first because muscle weighs more than fat so initially one might put on a pound or two until things settle out

Also, is it normal to feel hungrier at lunch time if you have eaten breakfast?

Whenever I eat breakfast I am starving by the time lunch comes around. Doesn't it get your metabolism going or something? My problem is that I am incredibly hungry for lunch and need to eat more than usual to be full. It seems wrong on some level...

Nah. My pics are recent. However, I have gained 25 pounds since I have started teaching only 1.5 years ago! I wouldn't mind so much. I don't think I am huge or anything but my clothes are getting tight and I can't afford to buy a whole new wardrobe.

I love walking outside. It is too cold to do much of that now. I think I am going to start a walking club at work/school so I can have company while we walk around the gym.

I will have to try weight lifting. I will have to remember that about the muscle thing too. In the competition we have going we have to contribute money every time we gain weight.

If you are wanting to shed some body fat then a simple trick would be to boil a litre of water put it in a jug and some cinemon powder to the boiling water (water has to be boiling) mix it in and then strain out the left over bits, then before or with every meal drink a 250ml glass like 4 times a day not only will this ensure you eat regularly but cinamon ultimately helps the fat cells in the body to become more responsive to insulin levels in the blood, which in turn helps get rid of fat, most noticidly around the abdominal region.

As for a healthy breafast nothing will beat eggs tbh, make a nice big ommelette with some meat and mushrooms, peppers and spinach or your own choice of veg, brocolli is also very good for you, or a bowl of porridge will also set u up for the day with a nice helping of low GI slow release natural carbs to keep you going and feeling full for longer, definatly eat fruit with your breafast, the complex natural sugars in the fruits will also give you a nice insulin spike which will give you a burst of energy, accompany this with say greek yougurt with acaia honey a some some of fresh fruit like blueberries (very high in antioxidents) wash down with some green tea

Just a suggestion, theres but keep the carbs low and make sure you get protein with every meal as this is what keeps you feeling full

I get the part about walking outside in the cold. Not my favorite and I am getting really board with the treadmill. So about once a week I go to the mall. We have a pretty big one that if you walk every foot of it then it takes about an hour which would be 3 miles at a normal pace give or take. I either listen to music or the radio while doing this and watch the people and the time passes pretty well.

Don't make the mistake of eating a high strachy carb breakfast though, while you need the carbs for energy you can very easily over do them and get fat, stick with something high in protein as proteins will make you feel fuller for longer. So avoid cereals, even if they say 'healthy' on the box or 1% fat, its all bullshit, itl be the carbs that make you fat in the end not the fats, plus the vitamin/mineral content is chemical based.

Typically you should eat little and often but always start the day with breakfast being your biggest, most nutricous and calorific meal of the day, and from there the meals should get smaller, eat less before bed time, and eat 90% whle foods most 90% of the time. White pasta, whote bread should both go, switch to wholemeal pasta and garnery bread, be careful with some brwon breads as they can be just as bad but also go easy on bread and pasta also white rice should go to wholegrain brown rice. too much will still make u fat though go careful.

Dont be scared to eat fats, they really arent as bad as the media portrays them! Heathly fats such as monounsaturates help aid fat loss. They also digest slowly and are cheap. Eat healthy fats with every meal and avoid artificial trans -fats.

And drink lots of water, avoid fruit juices as they are soo bad for you with 38g of sugar for every 8oz! if your not a fan of water then just squeeze in a few drops of lemon juice lime juice ornage juice from fresh fruit to give it some taste

Also have you heard of the cinnimon drink method?

This is just the very very tip of the iceberg to set u off, any more advice i will be more than willing to help :)

I can not argue with most of this except the cereal. I eat Cherios and I swear that their claim about reducing cholesterol is not bull shit. I must be a sick puppy because I eat it dry along with drinking a lot of water at the time.

Well, cheerios can be good for that, but as for weight loss they aren't the best thing to eat. If you are more worried about a healthy heart (now, you can be skinny and have a high cholesterol) then that is the best way to go.

Cereal in general have a lot of sugar, and you want to get your sugar from things like fruit.

Also, carbs aren't bad... What do you think you get from fruit? It's just making sure what you eat.

Carbohydrates are one of the main types of food. Your liver breaks down carbohydrates into glucose (blood sugar). Your body uses this sugar for energy for your cells, tissues and organs.
Carbohydrates are called simple or complex, depending on how fast your body digests and absorbs the sugar. You get simple carbohydrates from fruits, milk products and table sugar. Complex carbohydrates include whole grain breads and cereals, starchy vegetables and legumes. Complex carbohydrates and some simple carbohydrates provide vitamins, minerals and fiber. Products made with refined sugar provide little nutrition. It is wise to limit these products.

Carbohydrates: MedlinePlus

Basically it's like protein..... You want HEALTHY protein sources, like eggs or deli sliced meat that isn't prepackaged. Just like you want healthy sources of carbs (fruit).

You can get protein from a fast food place, but that doesn't mean it's healthy.

Edit: I am no professional and pretty much everything I know I learned from a friend who is successfully losing weight using the advice I have given. So I could be wrong about the things I have said. Just wanted to put that out there. I'm a 19 year old girl in her first year in college. Not a nutritionist with a college degree.

it's not just eating healthy - it's portion control

i did calorie counting and lost 30 lbs. I was "skinny" for the first time in my life.

The weight stayed off for a long time because after a few months of eating only so many calories your stomach shrinks and your appetite isn't as huge, but your metabolism goes and goes...

eat smaller meals. eat snacks and breakfast.
take in fiber

foods high in protein fill you up faster - lean meat/nuts (peanut butter)

and an apple always filled me up.

Also keep a bag of spinach in your fridge and just stuff it in certain dishes - lasanga, pizza, etc. I used to buy lean cuisines and add in a cup of steamed veggies - the lean cuisines like the alfredo worked the best for that.

don't cook in oil or butter. cook in something like water, broth or lemon juice...

i got a lot. I'm trying to lose too.

Some one told me they thought I weighed 310 lbs. That was enough to get me eating less.

30 grams of fat or less a day.

Eat whatever you want, but make sure your total fat intake is less then 30 grams a day. You will naturally start eating healthier because all the bad stuff is so high in fat. You'll start to think like " Should I really eat the pizza which has x amount of fat? I won't be able to eat much else the rest of the day if I do."

Lot's of fruit as well and try and exercise at least 30 minutes to an hour a day. I lost 20 lbs in 2 months doing that and now I'm losing a steady lb a week. .I'll stop when I reach 210 lbs. .I'm at 225 now down from 255.
