I guess it would all depend on which person you ask and there belief in what God now wouldn't it?

No. You obviously missed the point that we're saying, for the purpose of this thread only, that we believe in "God" and the Bible.

The only thing it comes down to are legal terms. And quite frankly, overseas, it wouldn't really be an issue at all...especially if Mary was Jewish and God was a Muslim. It's legal for Muslims to rape Jewish women.

So God screams, "Jihad!" and impregnates her. This is the new Bible. Enjoy.

So we dig up shit three months old once again...

It would merely be a case of impregnation without consent. It is not classified as rape. A friend of mine wrote her thesis on this...she's not a bad attorney these days. *smiles*

It would simply set a new course to follow, as it does not fall under the following definitions:

rape 1) n. the crime of sexual intercourse (with actual penetration of a woman's vagina with the man's penis) without consent and accomplished through force, threat of violence or intimidation (such as a threat to harm a woman's child, husband or boyfriend). What constitutes lack of consent usually includes saying "no" or being too drunk or drug-influenced for the woman to be able to either resist or consent, but a recent Pennsylvania case ruled that a woman must do more than say "no" on the bizarre theory that "no" does not always mean "don't," but a flirtatious come-on.

"Date rape," involves rape by an acquaintance who refuses to stop when told to. Defense attorneys often argue that there had to be physical resistance, but the modern view is that fear of harm and the relative strengths of the man and the woman are obvious deterrents to a woman fighting back. Any sexual intercourse with a child is rape and in most states sexual relations even with consent involving a girl 14 to 18 (with some variation on ages in a few states) is "statutory rape," on the basis that the female is unable to give consent.

2) v. to have sexual intercourse with a female without her consent through force, violence, threat or intimidation, or with a girl under age. Technically, a woman can be charged with rape by assisting a man in the rape of another woman. Dissatisfied with the typical prosecution of rape cases (in which the defense humiliates the accuser, and prosecutors are unable or unwilling to protect the woman from such tactics), women have been suing for civil damages for the physical and emotional damage caused by the rape, although too often the perpetrator has no funds. Protection services for rape victims have been developed by both public and private agencies. On the other side of the coin, there is the concern of law enforcement and prosecutors that women whose advances have been rejected by a man, or who have been caught in the act of consensual sexual intercourse may falsely cry "rape."

Please read the Bible but for an explanation then I have pasted this in.

During their betrothal – the first stage of a Jewish marriage, during which the couple are not ever permitted to be alone together under one roof, despite already being husband and wife in legal terms – the angel Gabriel announced to her that she was to be the mother of the promised Messiah by conceiving him through the Holy Spirit (the Annunciation, Luke 1:35). When Joseph was told of her conception in a dream by "an angel of the Lord", he was surprised; but the angel commanded him to be unafraid and take as his wife, which Joseph obediently did, thereby formally completing the wedding rites (Matthew 1:18-25). Since the angel had told Mary that Elizabeth, having previously been barren, was now miraculously pregnant, Mary then hurried to visit her relation, who was living with her husband Zechariah in a city of Judah "in the hill country" (probably at Juttah, Joshua 15:55; 21:16,

So the Catholics call it a Virgin conception and a Virgin Birth.

Re: RE: Did God commit rape?

Um yeah...see, this is where you fucked up. I've studied the Bible backwards and forwards. Don't request people to read a book if you have no idea whether or not they have done such.

Luke 1:35 is about Zachariah (Zachary in newer versions) and Elizabeth conceiving in their advanced ages, and giving birth to John the Baptist. It also states that Mary has consented to receiving child, even though she has known no man. It never, however, in that chapter, refers to Jesus as "the Messiah".

You also forget to point out that in the book of Matthew, Joseph wanted to secretly divorce Mary, as she was pregnant before he had been with her. I'd say that's rather dick of him, but understandable. I mean, really...why marry tainted goods when you were told they were ripened for your taking? Joseph didn't fuck Mary until AFTER she had given birth. Nice little facts from the Bible, right?

And then you jump back to the book of Luke (1:39, for those actually paying attention)! You're all fuggered up now, aren't ya? Stick to one book at a time...that way, you won't misinform others. She goes to Juda.

So um...what was your point in all this anyway? That she consented and can't cry rape? Big whoop! So it was statutory rape at the very least...you want a term? There, you now have one. She might have consented, but she was still a virgin... Oh but wait...now that I see where you obtained this (see, I can do a google search on a few of your exact words, and burst your bubble), I can understand your misquotes and misguided comments: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary,_the_mother_of_Jesus

I wouldn't trust shit from wikipedia. Perhaps from now on, you'll do a little more research.

And I would like to point something else out...I'm an atheist, but a damn well-informed one. I go out seeking the answers, rather than just hoping something is correct that I copy off someone else. I researched the law definitions in 26 different states before I determined that the definitions I finally used were pretty much the same, no matter where you go.

It isn't that I don't like to be wrong...it's that I like to be right.

well it is nice to see that I am not the only one that has studied the bible, along with SEVERAL other religions, and I am also well informed...but as informed as I might be, I think I shall do the smart thing and back out of this thread while I can...

I'm glad you took the time to look at my post. The laws were much different back then. Joseph could have had her killed but not for the Angels telling him that the child was the Son of God. The Holy Spirit enter'd her body and deliverd Gods Seed. That abut about sums it up for me. If you have read the Bible and have gotten nothing out of it then I feel sorry for you. Maybe It was forced on you as a child. We should all be thankfull that we can even discuss this in a open forum.

She took one for Human-Kind
