Depression is a treatable illness.

i believe that...but why even when i speak to proffesionals that it seems like i'm a unique case or some sort of new type of depression?

and don't worry...i've given up on suicide because as i said before...i care for my friends and family and wouldn't want to wish any sadness on them...so for their sake i don't even consider suicide anymore. so that's sort of a mute issue these days.

I am sooooo glad to hear you say that. You were starting to make me sad. But now I feel better after hearing you say that. :D

there is a song if you haven't heard it from Keith Urban called "Tonight I Wanna Cry". It's based on a lost relationship but the song itself is a song that is the kinda mood i'm in about 90% of the time.

just want to add - that in todays times many people like to diagnose themselves with nonexistant issues. yes real 'clinical' depression can exist, which is a physical problem - chemical imbalances and whatnot -
but too many people these days will just have a streak of bad days and decide "oh, im depressed, this must be what its like"

in the real, clinical cases, yea a doctor is probbaly the best choice - but for most of the time when its just someone getting all hypochondriac and full of themselves, support from friends and family, and most of all YOURSELF is all you need.

Most of the medicine really just gives you a false sense of happyness, then when it wears off you are right back where you started.
to add to your statement ..if you quit taking it sure you will because if you have a chemical imbalance the meds are going there job..
I have been depressed for years and still am...about a year-year ahalf ago I started the meds went thru about 6-7 kinds...LEXAPRO..hasn't been out to long it has help me alot....I know most of you know I'm a big kidder but not on this..it can ruin your life and others.....another thing take peoples' advise with a grain of salt..they have NO idea what it's like....it's not like not getting that job or whatnot.. if you have a serious bout like I did it's like it takes everthing you have to get up..I still have days like that..me I never saw anyone because I not going to pay someone for me to cry on their shoulder and that person telling what to do to get back together when thier own life is soo fucked up. I have projects all over the yard still that I quit on and quit coaching something I really like.this is from someone up to that point NEVER quit anything.. one thing I will say is you must change your enviroment if that means moving,or leaving some friends behind or what..just take time and write shit down you used to love to do and thungs around that time and compared with what is going on that you can put your finger on

Yeah...because we all want for Rusteh to just explode when he hits 30 because he suppressed everything... *coughs*

Not the best advice given there.

The best way to deal with it is simply not to think about it.
Uh huh, so asking a question like that in a friggin' crazy chat forum is even better? "Not thinking about it" is obviously done by keeping yourself busy with something else to forget whatever it is that made you depressed. It works for minor problems. It obviously doesn't apply for major problems such as perhaps admitting to your parents that you're a homosexual or that you're pregnant or that you hav AIDs, I mean come on people - apply common sense! I did say it depends how depressed you really are and what caused it, didn't I?

depression is part of life. we as a human race wouldnt have defined it if it wasnt.

so get used to it.

it is of my opinion that medical drugs make it worse, making you think you need the drugs to get rid of it. and thats profit for those drug companies.

sure, it'll probably seem fine at the beginning. and its fine at the beginning. but dont stay with it.

as soon as you can get to an acceptable level of depression, spend some time with family and/or friends. this is the real solution. its being around people you know/trust/can stand to be around :lol / love/et cetera, that makes depression just a simple mood, and not a problem.

or so it is of my opinion.

depression is, as some professionals say, a chemical imbalance. well, adding drugs to your system makes it inversely imbalanced, and so the body will produce more chemicals to make it balanced, and when the drugs wear off, that initial imbalance to make you depressed gets bigger, and makes ya feel more depressed, making you grab for more meds. which is a snowball effect.

I believe your wrong on this...I have taken the same med with the same amt for 1+ years... the problem is the body isn't making enought or is making too much the drug in most cases takes care of it, it regulates it more/less..for some, it may help cope with some distress and you move on..not the same as what I'm going thru.. I lost 12 family member last year,,my meds never had to be changed..yes I had great grief but it's not the same
