DEBATE TOURNEY FINALS- HK vs Retro

I'm voting for Retro in this round. Having not read the books or watched the movies, I found his argument to be well thought out and insightful. He makes valid points regarding free will and destiny.

This was a great debate and both posted strong arguments. I'm going to with Retro because I agree with him.

Wow, very tough decision.

What makes the decision for me was that I had no position on this question before the debate, so there was no bias of a "prove me wrong" I was truly subject to whose position I most agreed with at the end. And in the end, I agree that Dumbledore did the right thing. It's as simple as that.

Point to HK.

I think both did an honorable job but HK gets my vote.

Both presented their case very well and made excellent points. However I will have to go with HK

- first, I don't believe a child at that age would be capable of truly understanding the meaning and the consequences of making a choice in regards of the prophecy;

- second, knowing he would have to die, it is very likely Harry wouldn't have become the man he grew to be, with the friends he cared about enough to sacrifice himself. Yes he might still have confronted Voldemort, but why? Because of revenge and rage? Those are never good motivators;

- third, it is easy to look back at Dumbledore's choice and say he could've/ should've done it differently. He, albeit a great wizard, was only human and human make mistakes.

- fourth, it worked out fine didn't it?! .

Congrats to HK and thank you to all those that participated and voted.

HK, you're 50,000 is on the way. A quarter-million tokenz day... not too bad.
