Not to undermine your competition, Sam, but I'd rather debate fun stuff like this than the heavy topics we're voting on. I have no idea what I'd say for most of your options in the poll and they get debated enough on this board anyway.

This is the first of what I hope will be a series of these tournaments.

As such, I'm still working out the details.

Some people were unhappy with the "light" topics in the first round and some are saying that the topics in the latter rounds are too "heavy". It's all still a work in progress.

...

You have no idea how hard it was not to say:

"and that is a wonderful suggestion for when you run the tournament next time :D"

Sadie,

If you have no interest in participating, then don't.

I understand that some people come online for a little mindless flirting and chit-chat, and that's fine. A little mental bubblegum is good for the soul.

However, if some of us want to engage in a little constructive debate between adults rather than the typical screeching blather and trollish spam that has passed for intelligent conversation around here lately then that should not be a burr under your saddle.

The wonderful thing about threads is that it is NOT mandatory to post in every single one.
Might I recommend that you head on back to the Valentine's Day thread and continue your discussion of precious gems and let those that want to play in here do so?

Now, you have a wonderful evening Ms. Sadie. :)

Bubble gum is right.

what I dont understand is this....I'm not allowed to post in some silly debate thread because all of a sudden debate has become a game that only two can play.....where are the mods when they're needed. A member of this board, whether you like him or not, is being bashed in a thead that was created for that purpose alone. Don't tell me what to do sir and don't talk to me like I'm some dummy you can just brush off. Might I recommend that you ..................use your imagination. Mr. Sam.

How about vigilantism? Is it beneficial to our country? :D

That could quite easily be covered by gun control in the US really, dont you think? :thumbup

This seems so........high school ish...lol...don't you think????

Yeah, I agree, we should stick to much more mature things like flirting in pages and pages of forum space with everything with a penis.

You're too much. Go report that other thread if it bothers you that much. We're just trying to have a few debates here.

Jesus...

I honestly can't tell if you're playing a character to be more like your avatar or not. If this is the case, and GOD I hope it is, then let me clue you in on a little something. Yes, Marilyn was famous for playing the "dumb blond" but her appeal was that everybody saw that little gleam in her eye that said "I know exactly what I'm doing here." She was not REALLY dumb. See a difference, honey?

The thread that you are referencing... the VERY FIRST POST states IN BOLD that only myself as the moderator and the two participants post in that thread. I cannot enforce this, but I was counting on what we adults refer to as "courtesy". Silly me for not realizing that an open thread to some people is like a child seeing wet cement- they can NOT resist getting their little mark in.

"I'm not allowed to post in some silly debate thread because all of a sudden debate has become a game that only two can play?"... Why YES, that is the case when the thread is labeled "DEBATE TOURNAMENT" and it was DESIGNED to be a series of one-on-one match-ups. If you were invited to a Presidential Debate (that's when they have a "high schoolish" discussion on who should live in a big house in Washington DC) would you insist on leaping onto the stage? On second thought... don't answer that.

Regarding your latest flirt-buddy... let me be perfectly clear on this topic to avoid ANY confusion: I don't give a flying fuck about mazHur. Clear enough, ma'am? Here's another little hint- the reason this tournamant was began in the first place was because I was sick and tired of your little buddy fucking up every single discussion that started around here. I created this just so there would be ONE place on here that RATIONAL adults could talk... at least until recently.

The thread that you are referencing... there is a "Report" function. If he doesn't like it then he should report it, not send his woman in to other areas to make an ass of herself. Wouldn't that be the "adult" thing to do rather than pissing in somebody else's swimming pool?

Now- kindly stop derailing this thread and take your bitching up with the MODs.
