I found love due to a wrong number, even went as far as dating for a while. At the end of the day, the person turned out to be completely different from who she said she was initially. When it comes to dating someone on a forum, I think it can be even worse, since people are hardly ever who they portray themselves to be online. However, there are the rare case where some have found loving, long lasting, loving relationships through these online, "first sight" encounters. I guess the experience will vary from person to person.

I didn't know it was possible to actually fall in love with someone who's a member of a forum. Do you do the courtship in the background via pm or flirt openly on the boards? TBH, it's just a matter of curiosity not an active interest in dating someone!

I don't know man, some people seem to always get into crazy relationship drama regardless of whether or not they met the person online. If you're one of those people, or trying to date one of those people you're going to have a bad time.

Back when I was single I dated a couple of women I met through forums like this. The first one was super cool and we basically only broke up because she was moving to the other side of the country to be closer to her family and I didn't want to move so far away from my life here. The second lady was way into drama though, and that didn't work out too well for me.

If I were single still I would consider dating somebody I met through a forum but I'd probably stalk their posting history a bit to see what their past record with that sort of thing is first.

Are you serious? I haven't heard people would get someone off a forum. Wow, I'm surprised to hear that. I hope everything will work out with your friend's current relationship!

I think it could work. However, as in anything online, one would have to remember that the person they've grown fond of may not be that person in real life and be prepared for the let down. Caution would the the word of the day there. IF people are who they portray online, there's no reason for a relationship to not work.

I would assume trouble would arise, because I have never heard of anyone who does that. I would just stick to the tradition relationship any day.
