I applied to be a Supervisor for Supply at the VA Palo Alto. It doesn't pay nearly as good as my current job, but it's a full time federal position. I don't have any problems getting promoted, so I can take a pay cut for a bit, in lieu of a federal career.

It's going to be a long process before I hear anything, I never put any faith in the federal system.

I was offered a job at the U.S. Geological Survey last year as a GS-7, and right before I started they pulled the position's funding.

That kinda sucks.. but hopefully this time it works out for you :).

The main reason I'm willing to take a 15k a year pay cut is because I will have full insurance, 401k, etc.

Also, I can buy back my eight years of military service and apply it toward federal retirement.

That makes sense.

Kinda the same reason why Jim sticks with his job is cuz of his coverage and if he quits and to find something else we loose what we have no and most places don't give the coverage he has with his job now.

Hopefully everything will work out for you buddy. The pay cut sucks, but the benefits should definitely make up for it. Best of luck and keep us updated!!!

I am hoping everything will pull through for you. I am sure with your abilities and work history etc, you'll land in a feds job soon *crosses all that can be crossed for yah* :D:thumbup

( I am on a procrastination mode about my Feds job opportunity at San Fran too. Shame on me :p )
