Since Jessica had been the cook, and now she was gone, Ivan took over. His cooking was not as good as Jessica’s, but still pretty good.

In the morning, there was no Jessica to greet them when they woke. The hours dragged on. Jessica’s absence was sucking all the happiness from the Peacemakers.

The Peacemakers were all seated in the living room, either doing nothing, reading a book, napping, or playing a game of chess.
