Colleges must offer double majors in Meteorology & Drama. The local weather forcasters succeeded in clearing the shelves at all the local stores of basic staples & water. Created a run on gasoline sales all in the name of Isaac. So far we have seen squat in central Alabama. The predictions ranged from 4 to 6 inches of rain and winds in the 50 MPH range. I think we had a 5 minute sprinkle yesterday afternoon when I was leaving the grocery store. They wonder why we do not take them serious after they pull this stuff 5 or 6 times a year. We have cancelled schools because of impending catastrophic weather which never came. We have a couple of local weather people who have pulled this game year after year. I begin to react with yeah right.

You should see the grocery stores in NC when they call for ONE inch of snow:24:

Heck, couple years ago they cancelled the town Christmas parade because they called for 2" of snow.

Kind of miss the old days up North when they wouldn't consider canceling school unless the snow forecast hit the teens in inches LOL

Down here we never get snow. The systems run buses down dirt roads to pick up kids. Too much rain or snow and they cancel school because the buses pose a hazard to the kids and tend to get stuck.

On my side of WA we get all four seasons. But on the W side of WA if they get 1/8th inch of snow the literally close the whole side down. They have no snow removal equipment and it's all hills. Here we would have to have about 3 feet in about an hour to get excited. The only time we closed was Mt. St. Helen when the sky was pitch dark at 2pm. That was something! in 1980. And the Ice Storm, when it got so cold the electrical lines froze in most of the city and power was out in a lot of the state. That was sure beautiful-like but all the power lines were down all over for about a week in a lot of places.....brrrrrr

Snow is so rare here we have no equipment for snowy weather. We got about 6" in 1993 and it shutdown the interstates for several days.

Surely it's better to err on the side of caution.

If they said 'oh, nothing to worry about' and then people were flooded or hit by hurricanes or I don't know, whatever crazy weather stuff you guys get, they'd get a lot more backlash than for urging people to be more prepared than they needed to be.

I bet one of them in particular has to change his undergarments regularly during bad weather. He gets way too much pleasure out of bad weather.
