Cremation vs. Burial

I think it's time that we as a culture set an example to the rest of the world and get rid of traditional burials. I think everyone should be cremated. We take up so much space for graveyards and the bodies of our deceased are scattered everywhere. After a certain amount of time/generations what's really the point in a graveyard. If you believe your spirit passes on after death than there is no reason for a grave. We have a graveyard down my street that hasn't been used since the 17-1800s. It's just an area of centuries old graves with people in it nobody even remembers.

I don't think about cremation or burial much because at the age of 33, I like to focus on life more.

But for me, that'll probably change once I reach 60 years old or so, as many at that age start thinking about their own mortality.

However, for me to think about burial or cremation at my age wouldn't be productive.

I'm not saying I disagree w/ some of your points, Dana, but some of that is asinine. Just b/c graves are centuries old doesn't mean nobody remembers them. Also, if the graveyard "hasn't been used" that's probably b/c they ran out of land or are landlocked. No new graves does NOT equal not being used, IJS

And you also have to realize that some religions don't believe in cremation. You can't FORCE people to be cremated. It's my PERSONAL choice and, God knows, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a burial...but it's still a personal choice.
