coverting a video?

Can someone help me.. I have a video I took on my cell phone of someone. I cant send it to someone because its too long, but I can email it. I emailed it to myself and it wont load on my computer. Says its wrong file type.. Can anyone help with this. I can forward it to you. I promise its not a virus
