OK, make all things that shoot objects from their business ends illegal then. Straws and spit wads included.

I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that the cops have been abusing tasers lately to the point that it's not even funny. According to the news stories they're practically tazing every other person they detain these days. It's juts crazy. I'd settle for a law saying that they could only use tasers in absolute emergencies, like guns. There's no point in using a taser for something that doesn't require it.

Dude, I'm telling you, ask your dad's cop buddies, they'll tell you that the taser is issued to them as a form of non-lethal field support. Anything can kill you if the conditions are right. If you're allergic to peanuts and someone sprinkles peanut oil on something you're eating, your dead. But pour that same peanut oil on something else that someone's eating, as long as they're not allergic, they're fine.

That's what I'm saying: You fail to see how she's the instigator, because you weren't there, there's no audio of this event, you don't know what she was saying. What if, and this is only an if, what if she said something about getting a gun out and shooting them. Then she goes and reaches in her pocket for something. It could have been her keys, a stick of gum, or a .38 special. You don't know, I don't know so that's why we reserve judgement until all the facts are presented in a court of law.

And I'm telling you, something that can kill someone isn't non-lethal.

They are no longer called non-lethal. They are classified as less than lethal. Even pepper spray now falls under the less than lethal heading.

EVERYTHING can be lethal, whether it's the cop car or his choke hold. Just because a taser has the ability to kill (A very low one) it doesn't mean that it shouldn't be used if needed...

I was actually about to post the correct terminology. Way to beat me to it. Dick.

But is AEF good with this? I'm saying the cops should use it the same amount, but they need to go through the same amount of training that they would for their pistol quals.

Latest on this (Itold you we weren't getting all the facts yet.

This woman is no angel. She was trying to drop her 1 year old son off at the police station...trying to use the safe haven laws to do so. Safe Haven laws are designed for mathers of NEWBORNS to be able to drop them off at a hospital or fire station with no questions asked if they are unable to care for them. Appearantly she thought that she could just get rid of this kid whenever she wanted to just because she had another one on the way.

I think I would have tased her too!

If she truly was not able to properly care for it she was doing the right thing by dropping it off at the police station.

No, she wasn't...she could have called CPS or something...you don't drop off a 1 year old toddler...the law is designed for mothers of newborns so they leave them in toilets and garbage pails

No...they drop them off at the station and the station contacts various local child organizations. The child is much better off with them than a very irresponsible parent.
