That's what I'm saying, the department says that she wasn't "unlawfully detained". There was obviously some wierd shit going on in there. And the Taser is not considered a lethal weapon. It's killed more than it's share, but that was usually due to an unknown heart condition or something.

That doesn't mean anything.

A taser can easily kill someone, and they have in the past. They are leathal.

there have been a lot of taser stories lately... I say just make them illegal. Really, that would solve all of these issues.

This is what I'm talking about: It's on CNN so it has to be true?

I saw the footage, I saw try to walk out, get stopped, look like she was fighting back, then she got tased...please don't misunderstand what I'm saying; IF she was illegally detained and IF the cop jumped the gun and tased her, then yes, he should be fired and I'm sure the City will be making a huge payment to her in the near future. But if she was the instigator, then the cops were following procedure, and it's the procedure that's wrong, not them.

And I said that tasers have killed people, but they're not considered lethal because 95% of the time, they simply render the subject semi-conscious. That's why the cops carry both on their holsters now. Before, it was shoot the pistol or get pummeled. Now, they can shoot the taser and almost no one dies.

OK, make all things that shoot objects from their business ends illegal then. Straws and spit wads included.

No, I actually don't even like CNN. I'm just saying that cops have had a looonnnggg history of covering up things other police have done, or wrongly testified in their favor. I know A LOT of cops through my father, and I've seen and heard very very fucked up things.

I fail to see how she was the instigator, the video shows that she just wanted to leave, and had her back turned to the poilceman when he grabbed her.

You can't call something "non-leathal" if it can potentially kill someone. Thats no non-leathal.

Agree'd.

Sidenote: I don't like the the fact that you don't know if the person that is going to be tased has a condition of some sort. I know our police officers have a very difficult job and are constantly in harms way, but well I just don't know - there obviously isn't an easy answer. Procedure does need to be looked at though and they stated that is what they are going to be doing.

Dude, I'm telling you, ask your dad's cop buddies, they'll tell you that the taser is issued to them as a form of non-lethal field support. Anything can kill you if the conditions are right. If you're allergic to peanuts and someone sprinkles peanut oil on something you're eating, your dead. But pour that same peanut oil on something else that someone's eating, as long as they're not allergic, they're fine.

That's what I'm saying: You fail to see how she's the instigator, because you weren't there, there's no audio of this event, you don't know what she was saying. What if, and this is only an if, what if she said something about getting a gun out and shooting them. Then she goes and reaches in her pocket for something. It could have been her keys, a stick of gum, or a .38 special. You don't know, I don't know so that's why we reserve judgement until all the facts are presented in a court of law.

Well said...but if you take away the tasers, we're back to cops with pistols only, and I can see a lot more people dying. Those beanbag shotguns are just as bad...they get used too close, you can crush a man's skull with the impact.
