i've heard people say that perhaps the government promotes alot of these conspiracy theories just to keep people questioning and confused...i personally don't buy it because the internet is absolutely uncensored...when it comes down to the "i just believe it" argument it's nothing more than rationalizing the plausible and implausible evidence...i don't even bother contemplating them.

i was once a moderator on a HUGE conspiracy website.

let me tell you...

the paranoid are from all walks of life, including political leanings. some believe in A conspiracy regarding some subject such as roswell but they may have different versions of what they think happened. they feed each other since they both believe in the same thing basically...it gets nauseating watching people convince themselves of something with little or no evidence, just a "gut feeling" if you will. politics and 9/11 have been the in thing for conspiracies now.

The internet is a serious monkey wrench in conspiracy theorists' motor. Everyone can see the birth certificate online. We can search for the text of a speech or ad and then disprove lies and conspiracies ourselves. I love it!

My perspective on the whole BC thing is this.

I have no doubt in my mind that he is 100% a nutural born US citizen, but I do think he handled the whole thing very poorly.

If I was in his position, and people were questioning where I was born and asking for a BC, the first thing I would do would be to drop a flunky on a plane to Hawaii ASAP and have media tag along to have video of said flunky going in and getting BC at which point BC would be given to the media.

Case closed, end of questions without a whole lot of time and effort....

You forgot, the Clintons had Vince Foster killed...

The people who are going after Obama's birth certificate are conservative (partisan) who are looking to strike down his agenda and/or are raciest nincompoops who can't believe this country would actually have the nerve to elect a black man. Certain news sources feed them this garbage and they lap it up.

Don't forget the favorite left wing loony conspiracy theories as of late...
