You need the drivers for the router installed wich should add the network connection, if not you can manually do it.

Okay click start and go to my computer. right click on my computer and go to properties, then hardware, then device manager. then go to network adapters and tell me if you see a yellow question mark
Yes. Next to other devices. An then the drop down has a bunch too. One of the options being Ethernet Controller and then a bunch of other controllers
Yep that's the major problem...Okay, that means you are missing the drivers for the laptop's wireless connection and thats why it wont recognize the router. you need to find the disc with the drivers and install them
