In classical literature, conflicts often stem from moral dilemmas, fate versus free will, or human flaws, like in Greek tragedies. Modern literature shifts toward psychological and social conflicts, focusing on individual struggles in a changing world. Postmodern literature challenges traditional conflict structures, often blurring reality and fiction, questioning authority, and exploring fragmented identities. Each period reflects evolving human concerns and societal changes.

Conflicts in literature drive the story and reveal character growth. I’ve always been drawn to internal conflicts like in Hamlet where a character battles their own doubts. External conflicts, like man vs. society in 1984, also highlight powerful themes and social critique.

If there is no conflict, literature become dull. I like internal conflict more than the external conflict. If you are a writer, it can be very difficult to come up with a convincing conflict, especially the internal conflict.
