War and oppression don’t just scar one generation, they echo through families. Have you seen signs of inherited trauma in communities that lived through major conflicts?

I have seen this in my home country. For 10 years there was a bloody conflict which left 17 thousand dead, and I can see pain in the eyes of those who were victims, even the third generation shows that trauma.

Conflict often leaves emotional scars that pass across generations. Trauma shapes parenting, communication, and coping patterns, creating cycles of fear or mistrust. Healing requires acknowledging past wounds, fostering safe dialogue, and breaking patterns through awareness, support, and resilience building. Communities can also address shared trauma through collective memory and restorative practices.

I often notice inherited trauma in communities affected by war or oppression. Patterns of anxiety, mistrust, and hypervigilance can appear across generations. I feel behaviors, coping mechanisms, and even emotional reactions are shaped by stories and experiences passed down, creating lingering psychological effects long after the original conflict has ended.
