if he doesnt want to stop get him on weed at least
all he needs is a really cool hobby that is time consumeing
people mostly do drugs cause it is more fun than what they are doing
if they can find something more fun that is time consuming
they will quit
body building
biking
travel to do things can be fun
take a bus to go hiking
or just visiting cities for a day
some new fresh fun

I agree with this view as well.
They are called "mind altering" for a reason. The reason isn't necessarily an improvement to the mind.

This is very true.

It's what's in the drugs that alters the mind, hence the saying 'mind altering drugs'. It's not used for the fun of it, it is said becuse that is true.

Re the 'creative' ppl, there have been some ppl years ago I knew of (not knew personally), but knew they weren't anywhere near artistic, yet were on drugs.

It's if ppl have an addictive personality, as opposed to much else, although obviously there are other contributing factors out there that cause ppl to take the drugs they take.

It's also important I feel to mention that it is different for everybody.

No person has the same experience on drugs as someone else. What is a muse to one can be a blockade to another.

I've noticed that a lot of people who are "artistic" tend to use drugs. I don't know if it's to help further their creative thought process or tone it down perhaps .. but I have noticed that happening a lot.

Proud to be an artistic drug free mind... Well aside from Alcohol...
